August E-Blast

Grab a cold (or hot) drink and settle in –

LOTS of things to be ready for in August!

First off, if you have some time THIS WEEK, stop by Coral’s to help set up the Garage Sale. This is a big fundraiser for the guild. You don’t have to commit to 8 hours a day, but all help is needed and welcomed. The Garage Sale goes live this Friday and Saturday (July 19-20).

Mary’s Big Quilt Shop – Will meet on Tuesday, August 6, at the firehall from 10-2.

This Month’s ProgramSummer Potluck! The guild will be providing fried and baked chicken (thank you, Connie!). Bring a dish to share (don’t forget a serving spoon if you need one), plus a plate and utensils to eat with and something to drink.

The potluck will be on AUGUST 6 (a week earlier than usual) and we will begin eating at 6pm. Arrive at 5:30 to set up.

Don’t forget to bring your Summer Sunset Potluck Blocks- you could win enough blocks to make a quilt!

Bring your dollar bills! Peninsula Quilt Guild, from Long Beach, will be displaying their raffle quilt at our August meeting. (We’ve invited them to share our potluck). Here’s a sneak peak of what (I think) they’ll be bringing.

How are you doing on your Fair Challenge projects? The 2024 exhibitor’s handbook is available online at https://southwestwashingtonfair.org/exhibits/entries/open-class-entries/. Coral has volunteered to deliver registered quilt entries for those who are unable to – bring your entries to the August 6 meeting with the registration info.

This Month’s Activities – A new 3-month project – Autumn-themed blocks! These are for you, no need to share or swap, just make the ones you want (and you’ll want to make them all!) and use them as you will.

PLUS, the next Mystery Quilt clue will be revealed!

Fat Quarter Theme – “Stars” – Congratulations to Mary G, who won last month’s Blue FQs.

The Color Box Quilt Tops will be revealed! Thank you again to Kathy, Sheron and Valerie S. for turning the blocks into quilt tops. Drawings for the quilt tops will be at our August potluck!

Sew Daze will be on Saturday, August 10th. Bring your machine, gadgets, and a project or three and meet at the fire hall at 9:30. Park in the back of the building; the door is on the left end of the building as you’re facing the fire trucks. Bring your own lunch or something to share.

Coming in SEPTEMBER
Stay-Treat!!!
September 28-29 at the fire hall, 9am Saturday-4pm Sunday
Special class from Lisa J – Snippets! The class is free to members, $17.50 for non-members (as space is available).
Don’t know what a Snippet is? No worries:
Lisa will be presenting a trunk show at the September 10 meeting that will get you Fired Up to join the class!

A Stay-Treat sign-up sheet will be available at the August and September meetings

Lastly, and by no means least, we’ve gotten great response to the call for help in visiting other quilt guilds to sell raffle tickets. If you meant to volunteer, there are still places to go (and people to see!). Please check your calendar and help where you can.

Phew!!

I hope you all have a great July – stay hydrated, don’t forget your sunscreen, have fun making your potluck blocks and finishing up your Fair entries.

…and, a flashback to my childhood, when I was evah-so-clevah:

We all know that April showers bring May flowers, but what do May flowers bring?

Pilgrims!

See you soon!
