We’re looking forward to learning from our guest, Kristy Totten, as she shows us how (and when) to fold our quilts for storage and also shares her wisdom about the importance of labeling your quilts.
This promises to be informative AND educational AND inspiring!
April’s program was a trunk show by guild member Vivian R., when she shared her quirky and unconventional appliqued quilts.
Vivian will be sharing her method of fusible applique and showing us how to incorporate unconventional materials into our own projects on Friday, May 27, at the Onalaska Community Youth Center, 233 Central Avenue. The class will be held from 10-4:00. Bring your sewing machine and basic supplies as well as a dish for potluck lunch.
The cost of this class will be $10 per person and all class fees will be donated to the Youth Center as thanks for allowing us to use the venue.
Space is limited, so be sure to sign up soon to reserve your spot!
A materials list will be provided via email to class members.
Each year the guild has a fundraiser to support our Community Service efforts. We make quilts for donation to beginning-of-life and end-of life patients at local hospitals, and patients at local dialysis centers. Last year we donated over 140 quilts to these organizations, and the need is significant and ongoing.
This year, our fundraising quilt, “The Twist”, is an eye-catching design in blues and white. The quilt measures approximately 55 x 72″ and can fit a twin bed or be a really comfy recliner quilt to snuggle under while relaxing in the evening.
The first public appearance of the quilt was on May 14 at the Community Garage Sale in Chehalis at the fairgrounds. If you visited our table, thank you for stopping by. If you purchased tickets or made a cash donation, thank you so much for your support!
If you, like many others, fall in love with this cozy quilt and want to purchase raffle tickets, feel free to hit that “Contact Us” link and we’ll be sure to get some tickets to you.
Good luck to all the ticket holders! Look for more sightings to be published soon!
